In early 2012, my mother was diagnosed with a meylodisplastic/meyloproliferative blood disorder which required blood transfusions almost weekly, and she underwent a successful stem cell transplant in July of 2014. A few weeks before admission for the procedure, we threw her a large party where a primary objective was helping friends and family understand the procedure and outcomes. We called the party the "Match Mixer", and I created a fun identity and stick-figure illustrations for the invitation and accompanying educational materials.
